Let’s comment on the aesthetical quality of buildings being approved by our local councils. Or does the onus solely rest on the architect/designer to promote responsible design?
What do you suggest be done?

[ Posted byJohn Marc,February 02, 2009 14:27 ] There is a serious problem regarding the aesthetical quality of our buildings, due to buildings that are build of poor architectural style. This is a major cause of the everday reducing price of property surrounded by these buildings. There for it is the duty of our local councils to take this matter in hands before our towns and cities style and look are completely distroyed

[ Posted bySydney,February 09, 2009 17:33 ] Regarding the poor state of our local architecture, i think, you may have fewer projects, and from those few, no matter how small, you can make a mark, a mark from which we will all learn. some will follow likewise, and to some, it can provoke a healthy jelousy, jelousy that would make them want to do better....great things start small...from everyones small project, if done appropriately...we can start a culture that is everlasting..a culture of responsive and appropriate architecture..from all angles...conssider this...we each have a duty
[ Posted bysydney,February 16, 2009 17:06 ] I see that our dear members are not so active on our webpage...this is important..we need to engage and participate to promote certain good aspects regarding our built environment and to resolve issues that need to be resolved...
[ Posted byCarl Momberg,May 02, 2009 10:11 ] I am so pleased I found this. I started Architecture SA in 1975 and it became the journal of the ISAA the following year. I am yet to discover any really appealing architecture in Limpopo's towns and, as someone from the Cape, scant examples of any heritage architecture.
I'm travelling around South Africa (and Limpopo at present) with my pet wolf, echoing John Steinbeck's literary classic "Travels with Charley". (See capeinfo.com/akela)
If anybody would like to email me a list of buildings I should look out for, it would be appreciated.
Oh, and I do think your masthead/logo on this site is really great.
