[ Posted bysydney,June 17, 2009 17:24 ] As architects, i believe our strife is to cure the visual desease, FROM THERE ONWARDS, work on the principle of prevention as opposed to curing. the existing setup and the way our built environment is shaped, will, in the near future, be what the next generation will refer to as their heritage. we can, once again, try and restore appropriateness in what we already have, and then ensure that the next move, that is, the new builings, are done in an appropriate manner, based on lessons learned from previous excersices. retrofitting is now the buzz word as far as the concept of green buildings is concerned, it is a process inwhich previous buildings are readressed and aligned with the green principles. this could be one opportunity, inwhich we can correct inappropriateness in our current buildings, not that they are wrong. it is imparative, that enough research is conducted before a single line is drawn on paper or computer for that matter.......
